John Basinger Business Continuity Consultants was created in June 2006, in response to a demand for a new way of approaching Business Continuity Management.

John’s background lies in loss adjusting, handling large and complex insurance claims for SME’s and corporate businesses in a career spanning over 30 years. Throughout that time, he never once encountered a business which had an effective plan to handle recovery of the business.

Recovery plans were reactive to the particular incident. Working from a standing start, inevitably meant restoration of the business was much slower than had this been thought through before the event. The result was larger pay outs by insurers and adverse impact upon the company’s reputation.

The majority of business owners refuse to accept that disaster could affect them and choose therefore to do nothing.

John therefore set about developing a practical, streamlined Business Continuity service that was both cost effective and one which business owners could relate to. This is founded upon his extensive experience of handling real life disasters. His famous adage of “If it can go wrong, it will go wrong” has struck a chord with many a cynical business owner! 

He has found that his extensive contacts in the insurance industry have been the most successful source of new clients. Insurers and insurance brokers see a clear link between a well-prepared client and reduced risk.

We are now finding that business in general is seeing the positive benefits of BCM.
